Blast 'em off...
Yet another blast and its casualities made the headlines in this weeks newspapers..the perpetrators still at large or taken into custody etc will continue to haunt us every time we open the newspapers for days to come.S
Such heinous acts of violence ofcourse has to be condemned, but what irritates me is the graphic presentations and the dramatic interpretations of the whole event in some leading news channels and newspapers. Its as if they were waiting for such a tragedy to happen to fill their columns and airtime with hearsays and actualities..Two days ago news channels were agonisingly focusing on the lamenting mother whose 9 year old son perished in the bomb blast.will it melt the already petrified hearts of those behind the hideous crime? NEVER..instead they will double up their celebrations thoroughly enjoying the magnitude of devastaion ...one channel was showing the iron nails added in the crude bombs to increase the impact.it had ripped apart a wooden door almost 20 meters away..lengthy descriptions were given on that.not once did i hear the reporter say anything to mend the spirits of those affected or those listening to him.
this is the time when the news channels have a lot to do..that is they should rather reiterate that nothing will tarnish our countrys solidarity..all these incidents have created martyrs for the rest of our country who with their undying spirits are unified and will not succumb to such scares or tragedies...Our sense of national pride wakes up only once in a while during independence day or oct 2."Aye mere watan ki logon" and some patriotic films will do their rounds religiously every year.Thats it..is this patriotism?
